Shavuot Learning
As a Bnei Akiva Community
As we get ready for Shavuot, it is really special to think about how all of Bnei Yisrael, across every age, connects to Matan Torah in different ways. From our youngest students to our high schoolers, each group is exploring a different piece of the same story, and together it paints a powerful picture of who we are as a community.
Lower School: Starting with Trust
For our younger students, we are focusing on the incredible moment when Bnei Yisrael said "Naaseh V'Nishma," we will do and then we will understand. It is such a pure and inspiring idea. They trusted Hashem so deeply that they were ready to commit before knowing all the details. This is about learning what it means to trust, to feel excited about Torah, and to see it as a gift.
Middle School: Staying United, Even When We Disagree
In middle school, the focus shifts to something we know is very real in everyday life: disagreement. Our students will explore how Bnei Yisrael stood at Har Sinai "like one person with one heart," even though Torah itself is full of different opinions. They will learn that real unity does not mean everyone thinking the same way. It means knowing how to disagree respectfully, listen to others, and staying connected even when we see things differently.
High School: Owning Our Role in Torah
By the time our students reach high school, the conversation becomes even deeper. We are exploring how Torah is not just something we received, but something we help shape. With ideas like "Torah lo bashamayim hi," that Torah is no longer in heaven, we are thinking about what it means that Hashem trusts us to interpret, question, and carry the Torah forward. This is about responsibility, partnership, and truly owning our place in the ongoing story of Torah.
